On Sunday 15 March, in response to an invitation from RTE TV, over forty members of Hillhall Presbyterian Church set off for Donnybrook, Dublin, in order to record their Easter service of worship.
Some time ago RTE, impressed by Rev. Jamieson’s unique style of teaching, invited Hillhall to bring a small number of the congregation to their studios for a recording. Following the bus journey to Dublin the congregation were met by representatives of RTE who provided refreshments, applied a light dusting of make-up on some individuals and then led the congregation into the main recording studio.
Whilst in the studio the floor manager ran through a full practice before recording the entire service.
Claire Mitchell led the congregation in prayer and portions of scripture were read by Jean Jamieson and John Mercer.
The Rev Jamieson gave a sermon based upon a narrative of the Easter story from the book of John. Music was provided by Jonathan Arnold, Amy Shearer, Philip Poots and Marcus Hart.
Following the recording the producer thanked the congregation for giving up their time and reminded them that the service would be shown on RTE 1 on Sunday 5 April at 11.30am whilst simultaneously being broadcast on RTE radio.
Speaking afterwards Rev. Jamieson said that it had been an historic day for Hillhall and that RTE had provided a unique opportunity for the church to reach into the community. He extended an open invitation to visit Hillhall for Sunday worship at 11.00am or 6.30pm or indeed any of the events organised by the church. Full details can be found on www.hillhallchurch.com
